This is mainly Steve’s baby (once a greengrocer, always a greengrocer) but it is overseen by Anne and her team on a day to day basis. Whilst our emphasis is on horticulture, hence our catch line "so much more than just a farm shop" - the shop is thriving with fresh produce and, as much as possible, Kent produced fine foods and country fayre. New lines are being added all the time in response to customer requests. We pride ourselves on our customer service and take great care in making sure that the customers leave the barn happy.
Plants and Nursery
Anne's passion has been plants and flowers for as long as she can remember and being a qualified florist for the past 30 years she can offer a wealth of experienced advice on any floral requirements and weddings are her speciality. We pride ourselves that the selection and variety of plants we offer in our nursery is second to none and the best for miles around!
TEA ROOM AND TODDLER PLAY AREA
Our tea room is a lovely place to come and enjoy a slice of one of our home made delicious cakes, or a hand made sandwich made from fresh bread that we sell in the shop. We have our toddler play area that is always open that pre school children can enjoy whilst you relax and unwind with a cuppa on one of our comfy sofa's. Our farmers barn offers soft play when the classes aren't running giving you more options and our new baby zone is coming soon. Anne and Tracy, both Mum's themselves work hard to make sure this is THE place for Mums and little ones alike to come and have a great time.
Layhams farm landscaping is a division of FDS (maintenance) Ltd, a landscape and grounds maintenance business run by Les and Steve for the past 20 years. The whole team have something like 100 years of experience behind them (though only Steve actually feels 100 years old). No job is too small - from one fence panel to full garden design services are available.
With the largest stock of gorgeous non-drop Christmas tree’s in the area, we have a tree to suit everyone. 2014 saw us launch our “give-back” campaign where we worked with local schools and charities to raise money for them through the sale of our tree’s and this was a great success. So if you know of any local school, charity, scout group etc in the area that would like to be part of the 2017 campaign please do let us know.
CLUBS, CLASSES and events
Our timetable is growing all the time, so keep an eye on facebook and look out for our school holiday activities too! Talk to Anne or Tracy if there is something you would like to see here at the barn.
